It’s the first day of the first week of the Denim & Lace Quilt Along and I’m giddy & nervous. Denim & Lace is my newest pattern and you can order it here. I really hope everyone has so much fun making this quilt. This week we are cutting fabric and it’s going to go quick! I’ve recorded my thoughts and techniques in a video format and it’s here permanently (although I may find a different host than Youtube).
This quilt along, the book I’ve chosen is Set the Stars Alight by Amanda Dykes (You can order it here and it’s free in Kindle Unlimited), The book has deep themes of hope, and curiousity, and family, and different kinds of love and sacrifice. If you know me, you’ll know humble sacrifice is my kryptonite. This book has it in spades. And the quotes. My goodness, Amanda has a way with words.
“You make it sound as if we’re in a battle, Dad.”
“So we are my girl. So we are. But it is a battle that can be won by holding fast to hope and light. We’ll keep telling the stories, finding the clues. Gather them up, Lucy & Dash. Taking note of the good, the true, the just, the miracles hidden at every turn is like…a deliberate act of defiance against the darkness.”
I hope you love it as much as I did. If you can read 12 chapters each week in June (they are quick!) you’ll finish the book at the same time you finish your quilt top! A starry book for a starry quilt. I hope it makes this month one to remember!

I started Set The Stars Alight this morning while I was waiting at the doctors office and by chapter 2 I was hooked. I don’t think reading 12 chapters a week is going to be a problem. In fact, I have chores to do but my mind keeps going back to the book and wishing I had time to read. Can’t wait to follow Lily and Dash in their adventures.
