Jen Kingwell’s style has drawn me in for years. Like many others, I’ve gone so far as to start (and make significant progress!) on her Green Tea & Sweet Beans Pattern. Her new Quilt Lovely: 15 Vibrant Projects Using Piecing and Applique book contains this quick & easy pattern. How could I resist making something quick AND beautiful?
I made most of this little quilt with pieces from my scrap bin and remnants. It turned out SO great. Somehow, I sent it away. Can you believe it?! Hopefully it will be loved in its new home.
Straight line quilting seemed the perfect choice to balance the busy background. my favorite part is the contrast on this design, both in color and also in volume (value). It makes such a striking impression. It’s bound with a few pieces of scraps from my binding jar.
This past weekend Winter Quiltfest hosted Jen as a teacher. With her just a few hours away, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to learn from her. Jen tought amazing tips and tricks for making her upcoming pattern, Halo, tackling curves, and choosing fabrics. While Jen shared tips for making a scrappy version, these blocks from Sarah Jane’s Sommer collection just GLOW! (Pssst! Bundles of this collection just arrived in our shop!) I’m cannot wait to make more blocks. I think you’ll be seeing a lot of this little quilt!
Doesn’t this little girl deserve a spring quilt? It’s hard to believe she is already 8 months old. Time is going by much too quickly.
Thank you for reading along!

Beautiful, Amanda! Wish I could have been there to pick up on those tips, especially for choosing fabric — I love that topic!

These are both beautiful! I am currently working on a Daisydo quilt with all Bonnie and Camille fabrics. I have yet to start my Green Tea and Sweet Beans….and have three other of her patterns on my birthday wishlist. LOL

I love everything about Jen Kingwell – I have a basket FULL of her fabrics along with her book, “Quilt Lovely”. Now I just need to start cutting & sewing! Your pillow is absolutely adorable! And that new quilt – sooooo darling! Can’t wait to see the progress.

Your projects look great. Halo is coming along. Are you hand or machine piecing? Mine is languishing as I brought home a souvenir from Winterquitfest — the flu. I’m still at my mom’s as I am too sick to fly home to Ohio. 🙁

Of course it will be loved! Thank you Amanda for my lovely cushion. I am very fortunate to have Jen’s shop Amitie as my local quilt store, altho we hardly see Jen these days as she seems to be jetsetting all over the world teaching. I think Halo might have to be my next quilt 🙂

Both of these are just gorgeous. I’m sure I need Quilt Lovely. Yes. I certainly must. That pattern is to die for. You’ll have to share the tricks you learned.
