Simple Sewing Tutorial: Leopard Foldover Clutch

October 31, 2016

leopard-foldover-clutch-pattern-main-01I’ve wanted a leopard foldover clutch for years. I’ve seen this pretty bag on a few different blogs but my shopping habits tend more towards shoes & fabric than expensive purses. Making my own seemed like the natural next step. This velveteen leopard bag turned out so well and I’m thrilled!

And mark your calendars because we had so many questions about my DIY Eyelash Extensions, I’ll be doing a facebook live this coming Wednesday at 10 AM MST to answer them all. I’ll be doing one eye live (It takes about 10 minutes) so you can really see the process. Thank you for all of the interest! You can find my facebook page here.

Are you sold? Would you want to make one of your own? Today is your day! I’ve put together a photo tutorial for you and it’s simple, easy and we have all of the necessary supplies in our shop as a kit!

The Tutorial:

Gather Supplies:

12.5″ x 27″ of leopard print velveteen and cotton lining
12.5″ x 27″ of shape flex lining
1 9″ Industrial Metal Zipper
1″ x 3″ of black leather
Magnetic Snap

Cut velveteen and leather in half into two 12″ x 13.5″ pieces
Cut leather into two 1″ x 1.5″ pieces. Stitch leather pieces to the wrong sides of zipper ends. Then fold over and stitch to the top of the zipper making sure the sides are even.

And you’re done! Enjoy your classic new pouch. I got so many compliments when I went out with it the other night.

Also, you may have noticed I’m a shoe girl. I don’t buy jewelry but I do love shoes and this pair has been one of my favorites for the last two years. I just found them on sale about half off here and thought I would mention it – just in case there’s another shoe-loving sewist out there! You can find them here.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. Let me know if you have any questions about the tutorial in the comments! And if you liked this post, I’d love if you would share it on pinterest or facebook so we can inspire more people to make pretty things!
