Feeling put together is important to me. For me, that means a nice holiday table setting when company comes for Christmas Dinner. But my little people are small and a fussy table just doesn’t work for us. So I’m sharing my best tip for a holiday table setting while hosting company for dinner during the holidays.
For me, the kitchen & the dining room are two areas I like to spread Christmas cheer. But they are also frequently trafficked by my three {destructive} little helpers. So I’ve developed a system for hosting a Christmas dinner without the ‘don’t touch that!’ stress. Now, this doesn’t mean you won’t still have helpers. But this way, you don’t have to defend your beautifully set table for more than just a few minutes. If you’re lucky, your helpers will actually help. This table setting takes less than ten minutes (eight, to be exact! – you can watch the video of me actually setting my table on my facebook page here)
And one of the best parts? Clean up is just as easy! With white craft paper for the holiday table cloth, you can just roll it up, shake out the crumbs & recycle. No laundry, no stains. It doesn’t get better than that.
So, for the tutorial. To set your perfect holiday table in under ten minutes, you’ll need to prep ahead of time. I gather everything and put it in a basket & put the basket out of reach. Then, about 15 minutes before I expect my guests, I whip out my basket and dress my table. So, to prepare: grab a basket. Roll your napkins, tie with twine & tuck in your favorite decoration. I used a bit of greenery from my Costco garland and a candy cane. Inexpensive and beautiful? Yes, please!
Put your vases, flowers & candles in your basket.
Place your votive holders and a few ornaments on top.
And then put in your garland. Mine is real & smells amazing! It also lasts the entire month & stays flexible. I fold my garland in about 18-20 sections which makes the cool zig zag when I pull it out.
Set your basket aside until company comes or right before. You just pull everything out and set it on the table in the opposite order you put it in the basket. You can watch me set the table here
And ta da! You are all ready to host a fun Christmas Dinner party! Your table will look like it’s straight out of pinterest and only you & me will know it was THAT easy. Heck, you may just find yourself inviting people over because you love hearing them tell you how pretty your table is. Not that I would ever do that 😉
If you remember, this month seems to be the time to share favorite things. So I’m giving away two of my very favorite makeup splurges. Enter the giveaway below for the chance to win my absolute favorite eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay & my favorite stay-all-day, won’t kiss off, doesn’t dry out your lips lipstick from Stila.
