This post has a beginning, a middle, and an end. I would definitely want to make it to the end, if I were you 😉
If you would like to win a fun fabric roll of The Birds and The Bees, head over to Amber‘s blog, because I am giving one away there!
A little over a year ago, I made this cute little pressing board:
(details on how to make it here)
It is still my most popular post. I’ve made bunches of quilts, but I guess everyone needs to iron. Or press. But, I digress.
After a year of pressing on it, it was just as icky as its predecessor. It was starting to get my work icky, too.
(Oh, hello, gorgeous pillow from Amber!)
So, I just recovered it. Easy as pie
Now, I have an exciting announcement.
I am quilting along with Alyssa for the Totally Groovy Quilt Along. It is a really neat pattern and I have already found a few little hacks that I’ll share as the quilt along progresses. It looks tricky, but I would definitely say that this is a confident beginner pattern
Personally, I’m planning on deviating from the pattern and using some monochromatic prints as well as a few solids.
Alyssa has some amazing sponsors, prizes, and tutorials arranged, as well as discount codes on solid Kona fabric at FatQuarterShop using the code: SEWING101. Stop by her blog to sign up to be entered for some fab prizes 🙂

Me? I’m loving hanging out near the pool with this little guy

I will definitely have to check out that post on the ironing board — such a great idea! That pillow from Amber is gorgeous, but mostly I’m loving your little guy. What a smile!
The best thing about summer? My teenagers have NO homework. They are so relaxed and fun to be around when they’re not under pressure!
Favorite thing about summer… It’s a toss up. It used to be catching up on fun reads and water time (lake, pool, river, ocean, whatever!) but since grad school my favorite thing is sitting on an outdoor patio somewhere to study (instead of liked up in my office!). 🙂
Thanks for the great opportunity!!
My favourite thing about summer is that I’m actually WARM! I spend a good part of the year feeling chilly so I’m happy when I don’t have to wear my slippers every day. 🙂
We’re a long way off summer here in Australia, but the best bit for me will be that I get to come back home to the US during summer. I haven’t been home in almost two and a half years.
PS: I think I need to make a pressing board like yours.
My favorite thing about summer is getting to spend time with my kids (when I get a day off from work) and of course not running back and forth from school twice a day is always nice! Thanks for the chance to win!!! 🙂
Best thing about summer? Watermelon! And fresh sweet corn!
my ironing board cover needs re-doing also. love that toothless smile!! This summer’s favorite is a new for me fave. Usually it is the sun or the pool or the lake or a slower pace but this summer my favorite thing is less laundry. The kids have enjoyed quite a few pajama days or just wear their swimsuits or diaper (depending on their age) (and if it wasn’t so late i would make a joke about that). I entered the give away at Amber’s the other day…thanks for all the chances to win goodies!
My favorite thing about summer is we have the local farmer’s market with tomatoes!!
Best thing about summer would be the ice cream! Neat post about ironing board. I’m too lazy to make it so I plan to get the cheap little board from Ikea.
I love all the extra sunshine! It makes me so happy!
spending time at the lake, and time with the family
My favorite thing about summer is swimming.
Definitely spending time in the pool! And heading to the mountains to cool off:) I am going to have to make a cute pressing board…mine is white flannel:(
My favorite thing is the unlimited snuggle time with my animals!
Oh! My favorite thing about summer is the shorter office hours at work. I get so much more done with one extra hour per day!
Hanging at the pool with my kiddos has got to be at the top of the list. And, weekends when my husband is home from work!
Love that little ironing pad ~ something you can put just about anywhere!
My favorite thing about summer is the warmer weather and sun shiny days (we don’t have many here in Portland, OR), lots of fresh veggies at the many farmers markets and hanging around with friends.
Can you bring him to Sewing Summit? Please?! My favorite thing about summer is traveling.
My favorite thing about summer is sitting outside to read! Thanks for this giveaway!
Hes a cutie! My fav thing about summer is our trips to the jersey shore!
Strawberries!
My favorite thing about summer the lack of a definite strict schedule! So nice that if we want to read we read, or craft, or sew, or swim we just do it as the mood strikes us! And I love that my kids will hang out in my sewing studio reading or whatever while I get some work done!
Speaking of which, I guess I better go recover my ironing board since you pointed out it was pretty easy!! LOL
Summers are not the same as when I was a kid…that’s for sure. I do love all the freah produce that comes my way! I’m even learning to preserve it for veggie and fruit love all year long. 🙂
Sunshine!
My favorite thing about summer is berry picking! Yum! Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite thing about Summer is that Autumn is coming next. (I don’t like the heat…) The long hours of sunlight are nice and the easy schedule of not having to get kids to the bus stop at 6:15. And the garden. I guess that’s a few positives! Thanks for the chance to win, I already have my fabric chosen for this quilt 🙂
This year I have to say my garden! So much good food.
I love the cool mornings where I get all my sewing done and then the hot afternoons when I lounge around with friends 😛
flip flops! thanks for the giveaway, I’d love to try this pattern!
eating outside!
The best thing about summer is that our baby sitting of grandnieces is reduced. When school starts back August 20, we will now have after school kid sitting of 2 grandnieces at the same time. Until then, we are enjoying our freedom to come and go as we wish.
I love the fresh produce at the markets and hiking with my family!
My favorite thing about summer is spendingore time with the kiddo!
I can’t believe this QAL starts today, yay! And awesome pressing board tutorial, I don’t always want my ironing board out, this I can just put on my cutting table, I love it!
My favorite thing about summer is drinking gallons of iced tea, which I’m too cold to do the rest of the year 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!
My favourite thing in summer would be to bee at a beach and play endlessly in the sand with my toddler.
leena
My favourite thing about THIS summer is having my 22 year old son home from college. *sigh*
My favorite thing about summer is all the sunshine. I can’t get enough of it, which makes it difficult to stay indoors to sew! Thanks for this great giveaway and the chance to win.
My favorite thing about summer is the long days. And watermelon.
My favourite thing about summer is the longer days with daylight savings time. Thanks for a chance to win this fab pattern.
Oh my gosh. Way too cute baby! My favorite two things about summer is lightening bugs and watermelon. Can’t have just one. I look out every night to see the yard light up and can’t wait to buy another watermelon this weekend!
