Something Finished and A Little Giveaway

I’m not much of a bag maker. I am mostly a quilter. But last year at Sewing Summit Amanda (seriously one of my fave people to follow!) taught a class on how anything can be a quilt. Something about a quilt just radiates love to me. I love that feeling of time and effort that has been invested in a tangible way. It seems that as a wife and mother, so much of my time is spent completing tasks that come undone as soon as I turn my back.

So when the lovely Susi offered to swap bags with me, I knew I wanted to make something special. I really love making gifts. I try to make sure that the gift is perfectly suited for the recipient. I knew Susi liked Heather Ross, so I pulled out my Unicorns. Doesn’t this design just make the unicorn ‘pop’. I think I fell even more in love with these creatures making this bag!

Now, I am off to enjoy the lovely weather  with this little girl

I have been so excited for the return of dictionary print! And they are WAY softer than the original!

  4. Fall is the best time of the year for that perfect cup of chocolate! Sitting in my plush armchair with a quilt in my lap, that is the best thing with Fall!

  19. Fall is my favorite season, so there are so many favorite things – crisp weather for long walks with my family, afternoon coffee on the back porch, misty mornings, baking, and more time to sew!! I guess I’m gushing just a little bit 😉

  23. Wow, you spend *more* time outdoors in the fall? Good for you! I’m the exact opposite — I’m already hibernating for winter, LOL. I love the coziness of it all, but perhaps my absolute favourite thing is how there are shadows all day long. 10 am looks like 6 pm! It’s kinda dreamy, I suppose!

  25. I am a lover of leaves crunching under my feet… and I love the changing colours… sadly our trees won’t do it much this year after such weird spring and summer months…

  26. My favorite thing about fall is spending time outdoors without melting into a pool of sweat in 5 minutes. Yes, I live in Florida. Yes, our fall is short and well-loved! 😉

  27. I really like the unicorn. It is so fun and is a great addition to the bag. I completely understand what you mean about anything quilt. I feel the same way and it makes my heart sing when I give a quilt (or something quilt-related) to someone who REALLY enjoys it! I actually have two favorite things about Fall. 1) I love wearing shorts and a sweatshirt together, especially at family/friend bonfires. 2) I love sleeping with the bedroom window open and snuggling under a warm quilt next to my husband.

  31. Cooler weather for jogging! I can go further and faster – perfect half marathon training time for Winter 🙂

    Plus our apartment is heated all year round so we can finally open the windows and get some cool air in during the fall – I’ve been roasting for MONTHS! lol

  68. I will miss the warm days of Summer (you can keep your wool socks) but one thing I do love about Autumn is the change of colors. I love the warm reds, browns and oranges together with what’s left of the Summer greens.

  70. We are coming into spring where I live, and I am very much enjoying the longer daylight hours. My favourite thing about autumn is that the cooler nights mean my cats start to get all snuggly – so sweet.

  74. Autumn colors are my favorite thing about this time of year. Some years the colors are so intense and so gorgeous that I can hardly stand it. I don’t particulary gravitate towards those colors when I decorate or sew, but maybe I should.

It gets really hot and humid in Alabama during the summer, and the 60 degree days are definitely welcomed with a smile 🙂 I also really enjoy Fall because it is the beginning of the holiday season.   100. Hands down, it’s the fall colours that the trees turn in the part of Canada where I grew up. Vibrant fuchsia and neon orange and bright yellow, all with a healthy dose of deep green from the evergreens…sigh…

    I should make a quilt with those colours, shouldn’t I?!

    i love the crispness of fall, it feels so refreshing after the occasional muggy stickiness of summer, but what i REALLY love about fall is HALLOWEEN! i’m so excited already! i’m coordinating 2 halloween swaps with one of my quilt guilds, and a halloween block lotto with the other, it’s very closely tied with Xmas as my favourite holiday!
