The strawberries are on and the roses are blooming which means we are spending as much time as we can out of doors.
This isn’t leaving much time for sewing, but I am managing to squeeze a little in here and there. I simply couldn’t wait to stitch up some Tula Pink Nightshade. I have been anticipating this line for months. So, while teaching my sweet husband how to cut layer cakes, we had a couple of ‘oops’ cuts which was the perfect excuse for me to make something with it.
The pattern is really simple (I made it up myself, so it is really basic) and instead of halving the sisters, I left the coven blocks intact. They are, after all, the stars of the show 🙂 I added a little bit of black chevrons to the side because they were sitting there, begging to be used. They are growing on me.
Then, I quilted it with a giant spiderweb. That was also a bit tricky and I had to try a couple different techniques, but I love the result. I ended up free handing the smaller webs and using the walking foot on the bigger ones.
I bound this with a Denyse Schmidt print from the picnic/fairgrounds line last year, the last of the binding from my Flea Market Fancy quilt, and a strip of Neptune. I love it. LOVE it, love it!
Want to know the coolest thing about Nightshade? You know all of those old, creepy paintings where the subject’s eyes follow you around?
Neptunia’s watching you…

Very cute. I especially love the spiderweb quilting. But even more than the quilt, I love that adorable munchkin eating strawberries.
